Russell Peters, recently honoured as one of Rolling Stone’s 50 Best Comics of All Time, embarked on his comedy journey at the age of nineteen, performing at open mics in his hometown of Toronto. Over the next fifteen years, he honed his comedic craft at clubs across Canada and the UK. In 2004, Peters gained global recognition for his CTV “Comedy Now!” special, paving the way for a meteoric rise in the world of comedy. He made history by becoming the first comedian to sell out Toronto’s Air Canada Centre in 2007, a milestone that marked the beginning of his incredible comedy journey.

Peters continued to break attendance records at renowned venues worldwide, including Madison Square Garden, The Sydney Opera House, and London’s O2 Arena, where he set the UK attendance record for an individual comedy show. His stand-up tours have been captured in successful specials broadcast on Showtime and Comedy Central, including “Outsourced” in 2006, “Red, White and Brown” in 2008, and “The Green Card Tour” in 2010. In 2013, he made history again by creating the first-ever Netflix Original Comedy Special. Peters’ most recent tour, “The Deported World Tour,” was witnessed by over 400,000 fans across 40 cities in 20 countries and culminated in the stand-up special “Russell Peters Deported,” which premiered on Amazon Prime in January 2020.

The famed comedian has been recognised with prestigious awards such as the Gemini, Peabody, Emmy, and Canadian Screen Awards for his hosting, producing, and acting talents. His TV series “The Indian Detective” set a Canadian viewership record for Bell Media/CTV in 2017 and was released globally on Netflix. Peters recently launched his own podcast, “Culturally Cancelled with Russell Peters,” on iHeart Media/Cloud 10. He is also currently developing a TV series based on his childhood in Canada in the 1980s and executive producing the TV series “Late Bloomer” with YouTube sensation Jus Reign. Peters will also be featured in the upcoming Paramount Pictures film, “Clifford The Big Red Dog.”

When he’s not on tour, Russell Peters spends quality time with his thirteen-year-old daughter, Crystianna, and his four-year-old son, Russell Santiago. He’s a dedicated practitioner of Jiu Jitsu, holding a blue belt with three stripes, and he’s an enthusiastic DJ and hip-hop lover who makes it a point to get on the turntables for at least a few minutes every day.
