Valor Hospitality Partners has announced the appointment of Tim Smith, formerly managing partner of HVS sub-Saharan Africa, to its Global Business Development team.

Smith joins as head of business development for EMEA (Europe, Middle East and Africa), based out of London, England, working directly with the Valor Europe office.

He will be utilising his knowledge and experience from working in 35 different African countries and 30 across Europe and the Middle East to grow the Valor portfolio across the region, the group says.

“We’re fortunate to work in a strong and adaptable industry; it’s this resolution that will ensure we emerge from these most challenging times,” says Smith, Valor’s new head of business development for EMEA.

“This global pandemic has illustrated the importance of partnering with industry experts that have interests fully aligned. The Valor business model and global experience does just that, resulting in a more secure and successful investment for all parties. I am thrilled to be joining the company at this pivotal time for our industry and look forward to working with many existing and new partners.”

Euan McGlashan, Co-founder & CEO of Valor Hospitality Partners adds: “We believe the opportunities for franchising will increase ten-fold in the UK, Europe, Africa and the Middle East as investors realise the importance of having a highly experienced operator to run their hotel, both to take-on the operational challenges and to protect their investment. Tim will be working closely with our UK team, African team and our Dubai office, opened in 2019, to grow our footprint in each region.

Expanding our UK and European portfolio will be an important aspect of Tim’s role, following many years of award-winning hotels performance, where our ‘culture wrapped in commerciality’ ethos has seen Valor atop the lists of Best Employer, while delivering best-in-market RGI execution. We are committed to growing our portfolio across the continent, providing market-leading returns to investors and demonstrating the benefits of working with Valor. Tim will be a key member of our senior team continuing to deliver the outstanding client service expected of Valor Hospitality Partners.”

Aside from growing its corporate teams significantly in the USA and Africa over the last five years, Valor recently secured the continued management of its existing UK portfolio following the purchase of all 17 hotels by Thailand-based DTP Hospitality LTD.
