Qatar Airways has entered into a codeshare agreement with Japan Airlines, its partner in the oneworld alliance, to expand its route network in Japan.

Through this partnership which will go into force on July 12, Qatar Airways will provide additional five code share domestic routes in Japan via Tokyo Haneda International Airport.
Qatar Airways, which already partners with Japan Airlines on a code share on all three of its international routes into Japan from Doha, Qatar, and six domestic routes, will now be able to offer all of its passengers onward connections to a total of eleven domestic cities in Japan, all through one QR airline booking code.

The additional Haneda code share routes are; Osaka – Haneda (ITM-HND), New Chitose – Haneda (CTS-HND), Fukuoka – Haneda (FUK-HND), Okinawa – Haneda (OKA-HND) and Nagoya – Haneda (NGO-HND).

Qatar Airways Chief Executive Officer Akbar Al Baker, said “Alliances and code shares are playing an increasingly important role in the airline industry today – and that will continue long into the future,” adding “Becoming a member of oneworld last October was one of the most significant landmarks in Qatar Airways’ history and it has strengthened our competitive offering.” Qatar Airways operates its new Boeing 787 Dreamliner to Tokyo Haneda International Airport and flights between Tokyo (Narita) and Doha as well as between Osaka (Kansai) and Doha.

With the commencement of flights to Tokyo Haneda, the number of flights to Japan rises from 14 to 21 frequencies each week. Tokyo has long been a popular destination for passengers from the Americas, the Middle East and Europe.
