The Telecommunication Regulatory Authority, TRA, has organised a workshop entitled, “UN e-Government Index” in Dubai.

The workshop comes within a collective coordination led by the TRA in collaboration with other government bodies in order to strengthen the U.A.E. position on the UN e-Government index.

Hamad Obaid Al Mansoori, U.A.E. m-Gov Director, opened the workshop with a welcoming speech, followed by an analytical outlook presentation of the UN e-Government index in 2014. An overview of the UN e-Government Index in 2016 was also presented, which was followed by a review of several guiding points relevant to improving the U.A.E. position on the index.

Commenting on the launch of the workshop, Al Mansouri said, “We aim, through these ongoing efforts, to promote government bodies’ electronic presence and emphasise its distinctive ability to keep pace with global development in this field.

“As we invite a group of distinguished experts in this sector, we look forward to exchanging experiences and knowledge to learn about the latest trends in government websites in terms of the technology used, strategies for content management, usability, accessibility, e-participation, and government data and services offering,” he added.

“This workshop comes within an integrated strategy aimed at improving the quality of content and e-services offered by government bodies in the U.A.E. This is a logical result of the many initiatives that launched within the field,” he concluded.

The agenda of the workshop continues tomorrow, when the most important point to be discussed will be the possibility of establishing joint action and role distribution between various government bodies and institutions, in order to raise competitiveness of the U.A.E. on the UN e-Government index.
