Sultan bin Saeed Al Mansouri, Minister of Economy, is leading a high-level UAE delegation to the World Investment Forum organised by the United Nations Conference on Trade and Development (UNCTAD).

The international forum, currently underway at the Palais des Nations in Geneva, Switzerland, is set to conclude on October 16, 2014.

Participating in a ministerial roundtable meeting titled ‘Investment in Sustainable Development Goals’, Sultan bin Saeed Al Mansouri will share insights on the UAE’s experience in sustainable development and efforts in achieving a competitive, diversified and progressive economy.

In addition to the Ministry of Economy, the UAE delegation includes representatives from the Ministry of Finance, Emirates Competitiveness Council, Sharjah Investment and Development Authority (Shurooq), Dubai FDI, Ras Al Khaimah Department of Economic Development, and Mubadala.

Al Mansouri said, “The UAE’s economic policy ranks foreign investment high on the priority list. Foreign investments open up opportunities to gain knowledge and expertise, create new jobs, and facilitate expansion into new markets. We are constantly working on creating an enabling investment climate to attract capital and encourage international companies to foray into the UAE market.” The Minister added, “The World Investment Forum provides the ideal platform to highlight the UAE’s promising investment landscape. The UAE enjoys modern infrastructure, enabling legislations, excellent logistical capabilities and offers more than 30 world-class free zones. The UNCTAD World Investment Report 2014 noted that the UAE attracted US$10.48 billion in investment, ranking first among the GCC countries.” The World Investment Forum is a high-level, biennial, multi-stakeholder gathering designed to facilitate dialogue and action on the world’s key emerging investment-related challenges. Its mission is to provide a platform to debate ‘investment for development’ and ultimately promote investment flows that contribute to sustainable and inclusive development. With its close links to the UN member states, the forum convenes a broad coalition of investment stakeholders at the highest level who can influence the global investment landscape.
