Australia based shipbuilder Austal hasdelivered a Expeditionary Fast Transport Vehicle, USNS Brunswick (EPF 6) to the U.S. Navy. The Expeditionary Fast Transport Program, also known as the EPF in short equips the Navy with all new high-speed intra-theater transport capability. This is supposedly the sixth ship in a 10-ship contract between Austal and the U.S. Navy.

Delivery of the phenomenal EPF6 involved a series of stringent tests that ensured successful operation of major systems and equipments of the ship. The tests or acceptance trials are the final steps before actual delivery of the ship. Craig Perciavalle, Austal USA’s President is not only proud of the achievement but also credits his team for hard work deployed in all stages of ship building.

The 338-ft. long Brunswick is capable of shifting a massive 600 tons at an average speed of 35 knots, thereby assisting U.S. war-fighters globally. This ship is designed to operate in austere ports and waterways, also supports flight operations for aircraft such as CH-53 Super Stallion. One can expect three more spearhead-class EPFs down the line once Brunswick is delivered by the shipbuilder.
