After two rounds of exciting Formula 3 Asian Championship Series racing, it is clear that the UAE is well-prepared for the action of the premier racing series. With all cars using Giti tires on their vehicles against top young drivers, the racing has already developed a number of storylines.

These include the 3-way competition of Pierre-Louis Chovet (France), Jehan Daruvala (India), and Guanyu Zhou (China), as well as successful points by previous e-racer Cem Bolukbasi, and debut of local UAE rep Amna Al Qubaisi.

The first races in Dubai saw a sensational trio of races in Round 2 of the 2021 season as the competition intensified.

Jehan Daruvala of the Mumbai Falcons India Racing Ltd. jumped to the top of the driver classification after two consecutive victories in Races 4 and 5, and a podium in the final race.

A flawless pole-to-flag win in Race 6 on the 4.73km corkscrew track configuration put Pinnacle Motorsport’s Pierre-Louis Chovet second in the standings, just a single point behind Daruvala.

In the Abu Dhabi-based second round, Pinnacle Motorsport’s Pierre-Louis Chovet swept to the top of the Driver Classification leaderboard with two commanding victories in Races 7 and 8 at the Yas Marina Circuit in Abu Dhabi. However former points leader Daruvala of the Mumbai Falcons India Racing Ltd. fought back with an untroubled run from pole-to-flag in Race 9.

In another interesting story, F1 level E-Sports driver Cem Bolukbasi took to the actual track across both rounds, securing an impressive current 8th place position. Bolukbasi has demonstrated how it is possible for the detailed simulated driving in e-racing has allowed him to understand the tracks and react to actual racing environments efficiently.

Finally, UAE’s own Amna Al Qubaisi took to the track for both rounds, showcasing her strength as both a female driver and local representative.
