KPMG strengthens senior leadership team in the region with four new partner appointments

KPMG Lower Gulf has announced four high-profile appointments, strengthening its senior leadership team in the Middle East. Nader Haffar, Chairman and CEO of KPMG Lower Gulf said: “I am delighted KPMG continues to attract global top talent, largely due to our firm’s agility, investment in people and infrastructure, and our focus on quality. The pandemic has accelerated digital transformation and I am confident our new partners will support our clients as they navigate this new digital reality and reimagine their growth trajectories. The combined expertise and wealth of regional and global experience of our four newest partners aims to strengthen KPMG’s ability to inspire confidence and empower change.”

Shabana Begum 

A Tax Partner based in Dubai, Shabana has joined from KPMG UK, as the firm continues to build its transfer pricing practice across the Middle East region. Shabana brings more than 15 years of Big Four experience, with a focus on tax policy and financial services, sovereign wealth funds and asset management transfer pricing.

While in the UK, Shabana served as the firm’s Asset Management Transfer Pricing Leader. Before relocating to the UK, she founded and led KPMG Lower Gulf’s Transfer Pricing practice in 2015.

Shabana is a UK Chartered Tax Adviser (CTA) and a prize-winning Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales (FCA). 

Morsi Berguiga

Morsi Berguiga joins KPMG as a Partner in the Advisory team and sector lead for transportation and telecommunications. He specializes in corporate strategy, technology and innovation management, digital transformation, operations and sectorial regulation. He has worked in multi-cultural environments across Europe, the Middle East, North Africa, the USA and Asia.

Morsi joins us from a global management consulting firm, where he was responsible for developing their transportation practice in the Middle East. Before moving to Dubai in 2014, he was a Director in the Secretary General for Investment of France and responsible for the digital economy stimulus program under the Prime Minister’s Office.

Morsi holds a Master’s degree in Engineering from Ecole Polytechnique in Paris and a Master’s degree in Network & Computer Science from ENSTA Paris. He has also been a visiting research assistant at the Australian National University.

Jürgen Paskert

Jürgen Paskert has joined KPMG Lower Gulf as an Audit Partner. He will serve as the Audit Quality Practice Partner (AQPP) for the Middle East, contributing to the ongoing transformation and integration of the Audit function.

Based out of the Dubai office, Jürgen’s main role is to support Heads of Audit in various audit quality initiatives. His focus areas are oversight of portfolio management and resource management, and supervision of audit execution—including audit quality initiatives.

Jürgen brings more than 30 years of diverse experience in the industry. He has worked for clients in the banking and real estate sectors, as well as large private equity investors.

Jürgen graduated with a diploma in Economics and is qualified as a German Certified Public Accountant (Wirtschaftsprüfer) and Tax Advisor (Steuerberater). 

Ravi Sinha

A Partner in Advisory Transaction Services, Ravi leads the M&A Integration& Separations Advisory Service for KPMG Middle East. Based out of Abu Dhabi, Ravi is focused on helping clients create, enhance and preserve value from M&A transactions through effective planning and execution of integrations and separations.

Ravi has significant deal execution experience in consumer, life sciences, retail, telecoms and technology sectors with functional deep dive expertise across the value chain including enterprise IT, back office/shared services, finance, HR, procurement, supply chain and data. Throughout the course of his career, he has led a number of large global M&A deals around the world, delivering both sell-side and buy-side mandates for corporate and private equity clients.

Ravi holds an MBA from Said Business School, University of Oxford, UK and a Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering from IIT (ISM) Dhanbad, India.
