Commentary by Hala Badri, Director General of Dubai Culture and Arts Authority, on the launch of the Year of the Fiftieth

Hala Badri, Director General of Dubai Culture and Arts Authority, praised the announcement of His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the UAE, declaring 2021 the Year of the Fiftieth as the nation celebrates its milestone Golden Jubilee. She stressed that 2021 is the year of celebrating luminous decades full of achievements recorded by the UAE, highlighting that the Authority is ready to contribute to achieving the leadership’s aspirations for another fifty years of unique accomplishments.

Badri said: “We are proud of the directives announced by the President of the UAE, His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, who called on everyone to reflect on the history, noble values, ​​and unique achievements of Dubai and the other emirates, and envision their future towards the centennial. We cherish our founding fathers and wise leadership, drawing from their inspiration, will, and determination during the Year of the Fiftieth to reflect culture through patriotism and a celebration of the UAE’s unique achievements since the days of the union. We will also present culture as a platform to propagate values ​​of loyalty and tolerance and will invest our efforts to live up to our leadership’s aspirations, continue our ambitious journey, and tirelessly work to keep our country a pioneering model for civilisation and achievement as well as a prosperous incubator for various cultures from around the world.”

The Director General evoked the great national meanings expressed by His Highness to inspire and support the youth on their path towards the next fifty years as a pillar of the country’s celebrations of its golden jubilee, stressing that it reflects the leaders’ belief in the importance of the role of our youth in shaping and anticipating the future. She concluded: “Our youth are the pillars of development and progress in our nation, and we will continue to inspire and support them to enhance the prosperity of our country. Hand in hand with the rest of the sectors, we will harness our energies to strengthen our nation’s prominent position among the most developed countries in the world for it rank first globally by the next 50 years.
