Atelier House Hospitality Launches TIDES Bar at Marea DIFC
The ground level at Marea is set to transform into a high-end bar with a chic New York City vibe with the concept revolving around the 7 seas and 5 oceans.
Atelier House Hospitality is set to launch Tides, a new underground-level, chic bar in DIFC. This high-end bar located at the bottom of Marea will bring a unique New York City vibe to the city combining fun and elegance, inviting guests to celebrate into the night. Open exclusively from Thursday to Saturday between 10 pm and 3 am, TIDES Bar will transport guests to the vibrant hip-hop scene of the 90s juxtaposed with a luxurious atmosphere.
Taking inspiration from the Italian word Marea which translates to “tide” in English was the starting point in conceptualizing the venue. Tides evokes a feeling of mood change, refreshing the old and the new, and bringing in new friends and acquaintances and untold possibilities. TIDES takes guests under-the-sea with contrasting amber pop-art reminiscent of New York’s pop art deco scene that comes to life on alternate walls. It is also designed with nautical décor pieces interspersed throughout the space complemented with the with blue lit glass bubbles suspended from fine strings from the upper floor to the ground floor cascading towards the entrance of TIDES Bar. At opposite ends of the main marble bar are holographic octopus lights which complement the lofty ceiling featuring a large octopus chandelier positioned overhead the bar. The center of the bar features a handful of plush blue velvet chairs, low marble tables, and bar stools for approximately 40 to 50 guests. The intimate seating highlights the metropolitan vibe of TIDES and offers the perfect front-row view for all guests. Here we chart a new tide for restaurant culture with exquisite bar bites by talented Executive Chef Yunus Emre Aydin, 90s hip hop music, and privileged service accentuated by resident DJs.
Given its ode to the oceans and seas, the TIDES cocktail menu highlights each of the geographical bodies of water with each cocktail inspired by one of the world’s 7 seas and 5 oceans. The mixologist book has been curated under the skilled guidance of maestros Danylo Hutsal and Cindy Lalramngaihzuali. The former is a hospitality veteran with over 10 years of experience working in some of the UAE’s most popular nightlife venues such as Tiki Restaurant & Lounge in Abu Dhabi and the previous Indie Lounge & Bar in DIFC. Cindy is the Bartender & Mixologist at Marea with an impressive career that includes her tenure at Indian bar Hoots’ which recently made it into the top 26 list of Asia’s 50 Best Bars. This hard-bond book is exclusively available at the bar and features 7 cocktail recipes. One highlight from the menu is the Arabian Sea made with arak & vodka base with a hint of sage and a tropical touch of refreshing grapefruit served up in a special blue rocks glass.
Managing Director of Atelier House Hospitality, Panchali Mahendra commented, “TIDES has been a passion project for over a year, and it is a delight to see it finally come to light. This launch is a tremendous culmination of the entire Atelier House Hospitality team coming together to add a new spark to the nightlife scene in DIFC. The venue is unique to Dubai as we realized a New York-style high-end bar with a refined, engaging, and lively ambiance for the after-hours crowd was lacking. We made sure to maintain the elevated standard expected for the Marea brand but inject some intrigue. “
Recently appointed General Manager, Petra Peternel, said of the opening, “I am very excited to lead our spectacular team to launch TIDES Bar and add excitement and a vibrant atmosphere at Marea. TIDES Bar is more than just a spot for cocktails, bites, and great company – it is about breaking old routines and doing something daring…. changing tides.”
