UAE makes headway in human development, says international report

 The United Arab Emirates has made significant achievements in 2014 with human development index, a yardstick of human welfare in terms healthcare, education and Gross Domestic Product, jumped from 0.825 in 2013 to 0.827, raising the country’s ranking to the 40th of 187.

According to the 2014 Human Development Report, released in Tokyo under the title: “Sustaining Human Progress: Reducing Vulnerabilities and Building Resilience”, average life expectancy rate for Emiratis rose from 76.7 last year to 76.8, while average years of studying for the Emirati citizen also went up to 13.3 years, compared to 12 years last year.

“This huge development has enabled the UAE to be ranked among the countries of higher human development,” said Sayed Agha, resident coordinator of UN Organization, resident representative of UNDP in UAE.
