Dubai Chamber of Commerce and Industry has announced that 76% of construction work on its headquarters extension has been completed, with the new state-of-the-art building on track to be ready by early 2021.

The first phase of the project will see the structure completed by the end of September 2020. During the second and final phase, solar panels and wind turbines will be installed, while a pedestrian bridge connecting the extension with the main headquarters building will be built by mid-January 2021.

When completed, the five-storey building will span an area of 19,000 square metres and host 4,000 square metres of office space comprising trade promotion offices, shops, and building facilities restaurants, cafes, a modern gym and smart parking facilities with a capacity of 330 cars.

A symbol of sustainability, the world-class structure is designed to meet LEED Platinum certification with over 40% of its energy requirements to be met by clean sources, a strategic move made by Dubai Chamber in line with Dubai Clean Energy Strategy 2050.

The expansion project supports Dubai Chamber’s efforts to meet the evolving needs of Dubai’s dynamic business community and enhance the well-being and happiness of its employees, while it also adds to the organisation’s achievements in green building and sustainability.

After becoming the first existing building in the region to achieve  LEED certification in 2009, Dubai Chamber earned LEED Platinum Certification for its headquarters in 2014. The Chamber also invested AED 5.4 million in the University of Dubai, which in 2019 became the first LEED certified net-zero energy building in the region.
