Australia’s largest food and fibre exporter, the State of Victoria, has returned to Gulfood 2020 to share its premium food and beverage offering with discerning buyers in the MENA region.

A delegation of more than 40 leading Victorian-based food and beverage suppliers are showcasing quality produce across dairy, meat and prepared food across the five-day event. The Victorian Government Stand was opened by the Minister of Consumer Affairs and Suburban Development, Marlene Kairouz, who flew in specially to mark what has become a milestone international food event for the State of Victoria.

Agriculture dominates Victoria’s trade with the MENA region, with Victorian exports in this industry to the MENA region valued at over A$1 billion in 2018/19. Renowned for its halal offering, Victorian meat  contributed significantly, making up half of the agricultural exports; lamb exports to Kuwait grew by A$19m last year, and the United Arab Emirates is one of Victoria’s most important food and fibre export markets, worth A$339 million to the state in export value.

The Victorian Government Stand is hosting a combination of brands with a longstanding presence in the region, plus new businesses who are pioneering the latest in global food innovation.

The State of Victoria makes up over half of the total Australian exhibitors at Gulfood 2020, welcoming food buyers from across the MENA region over the five days of Gulfood. Representatives from Victorian Government Trade and Investment team, which has had an office in the UAE since 1997, are available at Gulfood 2020.
