KONE wins order for Lusail Light Rail Transit system in Doha
The equipment will include 49 Elevators, 82 Escalators and eight horizontal autowalks, the company said in a statement.
Developed by Qatar Rail, the new sustainable transport system will serve 250,000 inhabitants of the new city of Lusail and be used by around 40,000 daily visitors.
The network will comprise 10km of underground track, four main tram lines, of ground level and elevated tracks and passenger stations. In the near future, the rail network will connect to Doha’s metro network at a network interchange located on Khor highway.
In April KONE won an order to supply elevators and escalators for Doha Metro’s Red Line South and Gold Line and a 20-year maintenance agreement.
The Lusail Light Rail Transit System is designed by architecture firm ATKINS and built by QDVC (Qatari Diar Vinci Construction Grands projects Company).
