Jazeera Airways announced an increase of 19 percent in flown passengers on routes serving Istanbul, Beirut and Amman last August on a yearly basis, said a monthly report of the company on Monday.
The increase in flown passengers was driven by the summer holidays season with high demand to these cities, as well as by the change made on the Kuwait-Istanbul to serve Istanbul’s primary airport, Istanbul Ataturk Airport (IST) with five flights a week, at timings that are ideal for leisure and tourism travelers.
Jazeera Airways said in its August 2014 Operational Performance Report today, that there was a 26 percent in total flown passengers and an increase in flown passengers on 12 routes served during the month.
The month of August was also a high-demand travel month following the Holy month of Ramadan. The airline’s routes serving Gulf cities also saw increases in flown passengers by 29 percent from August 2013, the report added.
Jazeera Airways grabbed a 14 percent market share on the Kuwait-Dubai route, a 10 percent market share on the Kuwait-Bahrain route, a 22 percent market share on the Kuwait-Jeddah route, and a 12 percent market share on the Kuwait-Riyadh route.
Jazeera Airways also saw an increase in flown passengers on all routes serving Egypt during the month of August, mainly driven by the summer holidays season. The increase in flown passengers from August 2013 was 36 percent despite the Assiut International Airport being closed for renovation since June 2014, the report concluded.
