Qatar Petrochemical Company (QAPCO) has announced the sponsorship for the second year in a row the Delni initiative, a national awareness campaign targeting the Youth and spearheaded by the Ministry of Labour and Social Affairs.
The sponsorship was announced on Monday over an official signing ceremony, in presence of Issa Khalifa Al Kuwari from the Ministry of Labour and Social Affairs, Director of the national awareness campaign Delni and Dr. Mohammed Youssef Al Mulla, Vice Chairman and CEO of QAPCO.
Delni means “Guide Me” in Arabic. For its third edition, the campaign targets the Youth and focuses in particular this year on the role and the responsibility of parents and teachers. By caring for their children and by being dedicated to their students, parents and teachers play a tremendous role in the life of teenagers, as they are seen an inspiration, influencers, educators and role models.
As such, Delni will focus on this particular group in order to highlight the importance of the concept of responsibility amongst children and teenagers, through a multitude of events, practical workshops and training sessions for the community and in cooperation with schools.
Building on the positive response received by the Delni campaign that was launched earlier in 2013 and that reached out to over 41,000 students and 77 schools across Qatar, QAPCO is proud to reaffirm its support to the new edition of the flagship national awareness campaign.
Speaking on the occasion, Dr. Al Mulla mentioned: “At QAPCO, we draw strength from the alignment of our strategy with the Qatar National Vision 2030. Every day, our focus is on ensuring we participate in translating the vision into a reality.
We believe that contributing to Qatari society and serving our beloved country is part of our license to operate. It is our role to invest in the future of our country, by supporting the youth of our nation and by offering them the tools and means to reach their aspirations.
Therefore, we are delighted to support once again the Delni initiative as the benefits of the national campaign are evident: empowering the youth and offering them professional guidance in order to assist them in making asserted choices that can positively impact their lives, and the society in general.” Al Kuwari highlighted that the objective of the awareness campaign Delni is to target groups of teenagers and their parents, by familiarizing them with the notion of responsibility, encouraging them to be responsible for their actions, to avoid potentially negative behaviors and practices.
The campaign will also focus on the importance of education, the preservation of culture and traditions, while supporting parents in developing their parenting skills and offering them guidance.
Training courses will be offered by social specialists and psychologists and further implemented in schools by teachers, ensuring a global approach beneficial for the society at large.
Issa Al Kuwari expressed his thanks and appreciation to QAPCO for supporting once again the Delni program.
Dr. Al Mulla praised the role of the Ministry of Labour and Social Affairs for their valuable contribution and activities, such as Delni, aimed at building a better society.
QAPCO has developed focused community engagement programs as part of its corporate social responsibility strategy, highlighting the ongoing commitment of the company to support Qatar’s social and cultural developments. QAPCO’s community engagement activities focus on supporting initiatives that align with Qatar’s national objectives and target in particular the young generations. Making a difference is the key driver of QAPCO’s CSR strategy.
