Agthia Group to develop accountancy and finance professionals in UAE

Agthia Group, a leading Abu Dhabi-based food and beverage company, has been recognised by ICAEW as an Authorised Training Employer, ATE, in the U.A.E. and has joined an elite group of organisations which are part of the ICAEW Emiratisation Scholarship Scheme, IESS.

Internationally recognised as the premier financial business qualification in 160 countries, there are over 142,000 qualified ICAEW chartered accountants across the world. All ICAEW students who wish to qualify as an ICAEW chartered accountant must successfully complete four essential elements: exams, technical work experience with an authorised training employer, initial professional development and structured training in ethics.

As an authorised training employer, Agthia Group will train and support ICAEW students to complete the required 450 days of technical work experience, typically achieved within a three-year period. This training forms a key part of ICAEW’s rigorous chartered accountancy programme, ensuring ICAEW students receive the highest quality and standard of training possible.

Michael Armstrong FCA, ICAEW Regional Director for the Middle East, Africa and South Asia, said, “The extensive practical experience our chartered accountancy students are required to achieve really sets the ICAEW Chartered Accountant qualification apart. We are delighted to recognise Agthia Group as an ICAEW authorised training employer in the U.A.E. and we look forward to working together to develop the future generation of accountancy professionals and business leaders in the region.” Iqbal Hamzah, Chief Executive Officer, Agthia Group, said, “We are proud to become an ICAEW authorised training employer and to play our part in helping to encourage more local talent into the profession. Training our employees is something that we pride ourselves on, which is an important part of our contribution to the sustainable economic development of the U.A.E.” ICAEW is one of the few membership organisations to have universal training standards for all employers who train students. This helps ensure consistency of support and training to its chartered accountancy students around the world.
