Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA) has achieved substantial progress in the project to supply, extend, and launch a 600/900mm water-pipeline network in Palm Jumeirah. So far, 2,907 metres of the 3km project have been laid.

When completed, the AED 57.5 million project will raise water supply to meet increasing demand for water, and support current and future projects on the Palm.

“The main goal of this project is to enhance efficiency of the water-transmission networks, and increase water supply to meet the increasing demand for water to support current and future projects on the Palm and its sustainable development. DEWA provides a reliable infrastructure that is capable of meeting the requirements for development, in line with its strategy to enhance the efficiency and reliability of water networks to meet increasing demand and raise water supply to meet growth across different parts of Dubai,” said Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer, MD & CEO of DEWA.

“The project includes extending 600/900mm Glass Reinforced Epoxy (GRE) main pipes along the trunk of the Palm through the tunnel until it reaches the crescent of the Palm. So far, 93 percent of the total project has been completed,” added Al Tayer.

“The project is going according to plan. Work on the extension and launching of the networks is expected to be completed next October,” he concluded.
